KARACHI: Aqib Hayat and Mahatir Muhammad reached the final of under-18 singles at the 5th McDonald’s National Tennis Championship at DA Creek Club here on Friday.
Aqib overpowered Hasheesh Kumar 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 and Mahatir defeated Hamid Israr 6-3 (retired) in the semi-finals.
Ali Zaidi and Shumail Tajamil beat the duo of Rameez Ansari and Razi Nawab 8-5 in the semi-final of seniors 35 doubles category. Meanwhile, Nomi Qamar thrashed Razi Nawab 8-0 in the quarter-finals of seniors 35 plus singles category.
In the quarter-finals of under-14 singles, Ahtisham Humiyun beat Ibrahim Noman 4-2, 4-1, Abdullah Imran won against Rayan Ahmed 7-3, 2-4, 4-2, and Nadir Mirza thrashed Muneer Derbari 4-0, 4-0.
In the quarter-finals of under-12 singles, Nadir Mirza beat Ameer Mazari 4-1, 5-4 and Hamza Roman defeated Bilal Chapra 4-0, 5-3. In the quarter-finals of under-10 singles, Nael Mirza smashed Laraib Shamsi 4-0, 4-1.
