Shahzad, Abid reach Federal Cup tennis doubles final
KARACHI: Shahzad Khan and M Abid reached the final of men’s doubles at the 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championships in Islamabad on Friday.
Shahzad and Abid beat the duo of Mudssar Murtaza and Asad Siyyed 6-4, 6-3 In the first semi-final. Barkatullah and Ahmed Ch defeated the duo of M Shaoib and Huzaifa Abdur Rehman 6-2, 6-2 in the second semi-final.
The pair of Irfanullah and Israr Gul thrashed the duo of Imran Ahmed and Azeem Khan 6-1, 6-3 in the first semi-final of senior 45 plus doubles. In the second semi-final, the pair of Hameed-ul-Haq and Mehmood Khan got walkover against the duo of Waseem and Sheraz.
Meanwhile, Aqeel Khan, Muzammil Murtaza, M Abid and Huzaifa Abdur Rehman moved into the semi-finals of men’s singles category.
In the quarter-finals, Aqeel beat Barkatullah 6-4, 6-2; Huzaifa smashed Mudassar Murtaza 6-1, 6-2; Abid defeated Shazad Khan 6-3, 6-3; and Muzammil Murtaza won against Heera Ashiq 7-6(3), 6-0.
