‘Govt has failed to overcome wheat flour crisis’
PESHAWAR: Qaumi Watan Party (QWP) provincial Chairman Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Thursday said Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government had failed to overcome the prevailing wheat flour crisis as it was evident from the conflicting statements being made by the ministers.
According to a press release, he was speaking at a meeting of the party’s provincial executive council at Watan Kor, the headquarters of the QWP. Party leaders and members of the executive council were present at the meeting. The participants discussed matters related to the party’s organizational units. The arrangements being made for the upcoming death anniversary of Shaheed Hayat Mohammad Khan Sherpao were reviewed. Sikandar Sherpao said the conflicting remarks made by the ministers about the flour crisis had created resentment and uncertainty among the people as the rulers were incapable of tackling the situation effectively.
The QWP leader said ill-conceived policies and a lack of experience had added to the miseries of the people. He said that the government could not handle the flour crisis. It was caused by its bad policies, the QWP leader said. Sikandar Sherpao said the performance of the 17-month rule of the PTI government was miserable as the rulers had compounded the woes of the have-nots. He said the government is least bothered to provide any relief to the people and mitigate their sufferings. Sikandar Sherpao said the PTI government had yet to deliver on its election promises and the people had become disenchanted with the rulers, who have exposed the less fortunate to a host of problems.
The participants of the meeting through a resolution condemned the rape and subsequent murder of a seven-year-old girl in Nowshera and the killing of two women polio workers in Swabi. They demanded the government to bring the perpetrators to justice. Another resolution called for the recovery of missing political activist Idrees Khattak.
