The Women Democratic Front expressed concern over the arrest of a student activist from Lahore a day after it organised a joint protest with the Awami Workers Party to demand the release of comrades and other activists arrested in Islamabad.
A press release on Thursday said a student activist from Lahore, Mohsin Abdali, had been picked up. Another student activist from Bannu, Qismat, was picked up a day ago. The Women Democratic Front organised a joint protest with the Awami Workers Party outside the Lahore Press Club on Wednesday. A number of other groups also joined the protest to demand the release and dropping of all charges against activists of Aurat March, Lahore Left Front, Progressive Students Collective, and International Marxist Tendency. It said peaceful Islamabad protesters had been pressed with ludicrous charges of sedition and incitement of violence while those who expressed solidarity with them were being harassed through the closure of Twitter and Facebook accounts. It demanded the immediate recovery of Mohsin and Qismat, along with all other political activists.
