US envoy for people-to-people contact to improve bilateral ties
Lahore: US Consul General in Lahore Ms Catherine Rodriguez on Thursday visited Lahore Art Council and took keen interest in various sections of the Alhamra Art Centre on The Mall.
She held a meeting with Lahore Art Council (LAC) Board of Governors Chairperson Moneeza Hashmi and LAC Executive Director Ather Ali Khan. They agreed on people-to-people contact to further strengthen bilateral relations. Both sides also agreed to explore opportunities in arts, literature and other cultural dimensions.
Moneeza Hashmi along with Ather Ali briefed the US consul general about Alhamra Art Gallery, Academy of Performing Arts, Adbi Bethak and cultural activities at the council. The Ss consul general in Lahore praised the artworks displayed at the exhibition “Charming Pakistan.” She said the diplomatic relations between the US and Pakistan spanned many years. She said she believed both countries were trying their best to increase bilateral relations.
Ms Catherine Rodriguez appreciated the hard work by Alhamra Arts Council for the promotion of art and culture. LAC BOG Chairperson Moneeza Hashmi said that it was the key objective of the Lahore Art Council to promote Pakistan’s colorful culture and wonderful traditions in the whole world and make the world believe that Pakistan was a great place to visit. LAC Executive Director Ather Ali Khan said that Alhamra Arts Council strived to enhance the cooperation in the field of art, literature and culture with all countries around the world.
