Man, son electrocuted

FAISALABAD: A man and his son were electrocuted at Chak-2, Ramdivli, on Thursday. Muhammad Aslam of Chak 46/JB and his son Muhammad Kashif were placing an iron rod on the roof of an under-construction house when the rod touched wires of an electric pole. As a result, they suffered electricity shock and died on the way to hospital.

19 POS HELD: Faisalabad police Thursday claimed to have arrested 53 criminals, including 19 proclaimed offenders (POs). The police recovered 18 kilogramme charas and 95 litre liquor from the accused. The police also arrested 20 people on charges of possessing illicit arms and recovered 19 pistols and a shotgun from them. The police nabbed two gamblers and four kite manufacturers and recovered 700 kites and 27 rolls of chemical-coated twine.

Workshop on dengue: Commissioner Ishrat Ali Thursday inaugurated a two-day training workshop on dengue surveillance, treatment, medicine and treatment. Addressing the workshop, the commissioner said anti-dengue squad is the front line of defence for the dengue virus whose hard work has taken control of the dengue problem. He urged the dengue squad to act professionally with the same commitment in the future.

Special Secretary Health Ajmal Bhatti, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) of Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh and Chiniot districts, Additional Secretary Technical Dr Asim, Program Manager IRMNCH Dr Zulfiqar, Provincial Entomologist Mohammad Asif, expert Dr Wasim Akram, CEOs Health, District Health Officers and officers from the departments of education, Waste Management Company, Wasa, PHA and others were also present.

The commissioner lauded the role of the anti-dengue staff in dealing with the dengue outbreak and said health and other departments should take advantage of the training sessions and identify relevant problems.
