Huzaifa enters Federal Cup National Tennis quarters
ISLAMABAD: Unseeded Huzaifa Abdul Rehman accounted for Ahmed Chaudhry in straight sets to move into the quarter-finals of the men’s singles of 33rd Federal Cup National Ranking Tennis Championship under way at the DA/PTF Complex.
In Thursday’s pre quarter-finals, Huzaifa beat Ahmad 7-5, 6-0. Following hard fought first set, Ahmad lost battle against stamina and could not put in a real fight in the second which he ultimately conceded without winning a single game. Huzaifa was in fine touch and hit number of cross-court and down the line winners. He will face Mudassar Murtraza in the quarter final. Another unseeded player Barkatullah eliminated 5th seed Yousaf Khalil in the first round in a well contested match 7-6(4) and 6-4. In pre-quarters he easily eliminated Shakirullah 6-2, 6-3.
Top seed Aqeel Khan won his match against Muhammad Shoaib 6-4, 6-4. Second seed Muzammil Murtaza eliminated Jibran-ul-Haq in straight set 6-4, 6-4.
