LAKKI MARWAT: The Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader and former parliamentarian Naseer Muhammad Khan Maidadkhel has resigned from the party and also as member of the Marwat Qaumi Jirga.
Talking to The News here on Friday, former MNA and MPA Naseer Muhammad Khan said he joined the JUI-F in 2006 and played key role for its cause.
He said JUI-F head Maulana Fazlur Rehman was a nice person and broad-minded, but some of the other party leaders were totally different.
“There was no other option left with me except to resign as I was always ignored in decision-making meetings in Lakki Marwat,” he complained.
Regarding the failure of JUI-F to form the district government in Lakki Marwat despite winning most seats in local government elections, he said he had brought the issues to the notice of the JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and federal Minister for Housing Akram Khan Durrani and asked them to keep a check on the members who were in talks with the leaders of the rival six-party alliance.
“I was worried about whatever has happened,” he said, adding, he did not know who contacted the four members of the JUI-F and what was offered to them to defect from the party and vote for the six-party alliance.
He said he joined the Marwat Qaumi Jirga on the JUI-F quota as there were three groups representing the Tor Gund, Speen Gund and JUI-F in this jirga. “After having resigned from the JUI-F, I had to quit the Marwat Qaumi Jirga as I was representing the JUI-F in it,” he argued.
