DERA ISMAIL KHAN: The police conducted a mock exercise to respond to a ‘terrorist attack’ on Kotli Imam Hussain on Tuesday.
The Rapid Response Force commandos, jawans of police and Elite Force, officials of Special Branch, medical and Bomb Disposal Unit personnel jointly conducted the mock operation and showed their skills to resist and respond to sabotage activity by terrorists on Kotli Imam Hussain.
The designated place where the Kotli Imam Hussain is situated in the city, was first surrounded by the operational forces which were led and supervised by Deputy Superintendent Police Yousaf Khan and area station house officers (SHOs). The mock terrorists attacked the worship place with latest weapons and took the worshipers hostage. The officials taking part in the exercise tackled with effective strategy. They successfully acted according to operational strategies. They surrounded the place and enclosed cemetery as well as adjacent buildings to ensure their security.
The hostages were freed and the building was secured. They also successfully shifted the injured officials to hospital for medical cover. The mock terrorists were pushed by the respondents to a section of the Kotli Imam Hussain buidling, who were later arrested during the operation. District Police Officer Hafiz Khalid Mehmood said that the mock exercises were being conducted to prepare masses for any untoward situation with effective strategies besides enhancing the professional capacity and skills of police to tackle terrorists attack effectively.
