PESHAWAR: The officials of the Capital City Police have said that several gangs of street criminals have been busted during the last one month that has reduced the rate of crimes to less than 15 per cent. “We have busted several gangs and arrested 41 street criminals during an ongoing operation against the gangs operating in the city. This has brought down the rate of the street crimes in Peshawar to a great extent,” Senior Superintendent of Police Operations Zahoor Afridi told a press conference at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Lines. The SSP said that 12 cars, one jeep, 10 motorbikes, 11 cell phones and a cash of Rs 2.1 million have been recovered from the held criminals. The officials handed over the recovered cars, bikes and cash to the owners at a function after the press conference. The SSP operations told reporters that among those held during the drive also included criminals who used to snatch and lift vehicles from cities in other provinces.
