PESHAWAR: Expression serious concern over the recent report of the Transparency International (TI) about corruption in Pakistan, the provincial executive council of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Sunday declared that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had no justification to stay in power. "The PTI must immediately quit power and announce fresh elections in the country after the Transparency International report," declared the meeting held here with provincial president of the party Senator Maulana Attaur Rahman in the chair.
“Those blaming others for corruption have come out to be the champions of corrupt practices,” said Maulana Attaur Rahman. The meeting also took stock of the unbearable hike in prices of essential commodities. The participants of the meeting expressed serious concern over the increase in the prices of flour, sugar, gas and electricity. The meeting also criticised the government’s alleged moves to defame religious institutions and religious scholars in the name of reforms.
The participants of the meeting said that the campaign against religious leaders and seminaries was a continuation of the international agenda. They said that the religious conventions scheduled to be held in Peshawar on February 2 would be participated by teachers and students of the 6000 religious seminaries across the province. They said that all-out preparations have been made for the conference, which would be addressed by Maulana Fazlur Rahman. The meeting also issued schedule for the visit of Maulana Fazlur Rahman to different parts of the province during February next.
