Couple shot dead for ‘honour’

SARGODHA: A couple was shot dead in Shahpur City police limits. Police spokesman said that Muhammad Javed of Noon Jageer village Tehsil Shahpur married with Fauzia Bibi, d/o Khadim Hussain, against the will of her parents. On the day of the incident, accused Khadim Hussain along with his brother Nazar Muhammad allegedly shot dead both Javed and Fauzia and fled from the scene. DPO Ammara Athar took notice of the incident and made a police team to arrest the accused.

PO having head money arrested: Police have arrested a proclaimed offender (PO) from Sajid Shaheed police limits.

Police spokesman said Sunday that a proclaimed offender Muhammad Usman alias Chitta was wanted to Faisalabad police in different cases of terrorism, robbery and attempt to murder since 2011.

The Punjab government had announced head money of Rs 200,000 for the arrest of proclaimed offender Muhammad Usman.

Police have also recovered illegal weapons from the PO.

15 held with narcotics: Police have arrested 15 accused, including four drug pushers, and recovered narcotics, weapons and theft animals from them.

Police spokesman said that during a continued drive against drug pushers and criminals, the teams of different police stations conducted raids within their limits and arrested four accused and recovered 3.451 kilogram hashish and one pistol from them. The drug pushers were identified as Haider Ali, Fazal Hanif, Faizan and Bilal. The police team of Sahiwal under the supervision of DSP conducted raids at different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhawa and recovered over 50 stolen animals. These animals were stolen from Sargodha, Sadder, Atta Shaheed, Bhalwal, Kirana, Kotmomin, Shahpur City and Jhaak Chakian police limits.

DDWP approves 4 schemes: The Divisional Development Working Party has approved four development schemes worth Rs 390 million for Bhakhar and Mianwali districts.

A meeting of Divisional Development Working Party was held here at Conference Room headed by Commissioner Dr Farah Masood.

The commissioner directed the administration for making sure 100pc use of funds allocated for development schemes whereas no compromise would be done on standard of work.

Dr Farah Masood also approved the construction and extension of Art 2 to PAF via Degree College University Campus 5.5km road with Rs 35 million whereas Rs 153.8 million would be spent on the project during 30 months. The DDWP approved the construction of Chashma-Jhelum Link Canal to Anwar Chowk 14km road with an estimated amount of Rs 159 million. The road would be completed in 36 months.
