KARACHI: Ahmed Chodhri, Heera Ashiq, Muzammil Murtaza, and Aqeel Khan reached the semi-finals of the Serena Hotels National Ranking Tennis Championships in Islamabad on Friday.
In mens singles quarter-finals, Ahmed beat Shahzad Khan 6-4, 6-3, Heera defeated Mudassir Murtaza 6-3, 6-4, Muzammil overpowered Shoaib 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, and Aqeel thrashed Abid 6-3, 6-2.
In boys under-18 singles quarter-finals, Mahatir Muhammad won against Sami Zeb 6-3, 3-6, 6-3; Nalain Abbas smashed Hamid Israr 6-1, 6-4; M Shoaib beat Faizan Fayyaz 6-3, 6-0; and Hamid Israr overpowered Zalan Khan 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(2).
In boys under-14 singles quarter-finals, Bilal Asim thrashed Ahtesham Humyun 4-0, 4-0; Haider Ali smashed Asad Zaman 4-0, 4-1; Ahmed Nail beat Yahya Musa 4-1, 4-1; Husnain Ali won against Hamza Asim 1-4, 5-3, 4-2.
In under-12 singles quarter-finals, Hamza Roman thrashed Nabeel Ali Qayum 4-1, 4-0; Ahtesham Humyaun smashed Zohaib Malik 4-0, 4-1; Haniya Minhas beat Ali Zain 4-1, 4-2; and Husnain Ali defeated Ameer Mazari 4-2, 4-1. Hamza Ali beat Hammad Shah 4-0, 4-1 in under-10 singles quarter-final.
