LAHORE: Good bilateral ties between Iran and Pakistan are important for the region’s peace, stability and economic growth for both brotherly Muslim countries and they should overcome the challenges in their way.
According to a press release this was the crux of a 3-day international seminar “Pak-Iran Relations” which concluded at Lahore College for Women University here on Thursday. Senator Talha Mahmood, who was the chief guest, said Iran was one of the most important neighbors of Pakistan and was the first country to recognise Pakistan. He added Iran helped Pakistan in the wars of 1965 and 1971. He also condemned the killing of General Qasem Soleimani.
Lt Genral (Retd) Javed Hassan said in the context of bilateral relations, the two sides also resolved to enhance cooperation in a number of social and cultural domains besides expanding economic relations. He said CPEC was a game changer in the region and added Iran must also join the project.
Addressing the seminar, Iranian Consul General Raza Nazri said Iran and Pakistan relations were much better than other neighbors. The relations between Pakistan and Iran were very strong economically and socially. One minute of silence was observed for the victims of the Ukrainian plane crash.
