Mardan Super League continues amid droves of visitors
MARDAN: Mardan Super League (MSL) continues at Mardan Sports Complex, with six teams participating in the event and attracting visitors in large numbers.
A total of 15 matches will be played in the event, while six matches have been played so far.
“The event will promote cricket in the district and will also bring talented players to the limelight,” Tufail Khan, chairman of the organising committee of the MSL, told The News.
He added that the MSL had begun from 15 January. He said that six teams including Hoti Mardan Zalmi, Takhtbhai Baatoran, Katlang Pukhtun, Rustam Nangyali, Toru Bahadaran and Bagh-e-Aram Baryali are participating in the MSL event.
He added that Katlang Pukhtun played 2 matches and won 1, Baghe-Irum Baryali played 2 Matches and lost both, Takhtbhai Batooran played 2 Matches and lost both, Rustam Nangyali played 2 and won both, Toru Bahadaran played 2 matches winning both and Hoti Mardan Zalmi played 2 matches and won one.
Tufail said that nine matches of the event are remaining. He added that after the first round, four winning teams will play two semifinals. He added that in the third round, the winner of the semifinal will play the final match.
Tufail said that Mardan has contributed several players to Pakistan cricket team. He also said that man of the match and best performer in losing team is awarded Rs20,000 cash prize while at the end of the league, Rs500,000 cash will be given to the winning team, 3 motorbikes for man of the series, batting, bowling and fielding and gifts for the crowds and families on a daily basis.
He added the people of Mardan were taking keen interest in the event and locals in large numbers have gathered at the ground. He thanked Mardanians for supporting the MSL.
