Haris, Umer reach U21 snooker decider

MABAD: Haris Tahir (Punjab) and Umer Farooq (Punjab) made it to the final of the National Under-21 Snooker Championship here at the Pakistan Sports Complex Wednesday. Haris prevailed over Saad Khan (KP) 5-2 in an interesting semi-final that was contested over seven frames.

Third frame saw a break of 85 from Haris, Umer Farooq also had 5-2 win over province fellow Muhammad Umer Khan. Haris earlier defeated Shahzaib Malik (Pjb) 4-2 (60- 38, 45-49, 50-41, 67-54, 33-46, 82-43) in the quarter-finals with Umer Farooq getting the better of Sheikh Muhammad Muddassir (Pjb) 4-2 (26-64, 16-73, 53-43, 49-7, 62-9, 66-35). Results: Semi-finals: Haris Tahir (Pjb) bt Saad Khan (KP) 5-2 (30-62, 80-5, 85- 6(85), 71-24, 72-34, 15-64, 75- 41); Umer Farooq (Pjb) bt Muhammad Umer Khan (Pjb) 5-2 (31-60, 53-38, 62-15, 42-53, 79-32, 51-40, 73-1).
