The Excise teams sealed mobile phone shops, general stores and godowns during the crackdown. Excise official Niaz Dhaloon said Excise and Taxation Director Abdullah Khan had ordered the crackdown on defaulters and the department constituted special squads for raiding at the properties. The special squads recovered Rs 500,000 from defaulters, he told.
The teams sealed more than 80 shops, which failed to pay their payable property tax, he informed. The majority of the sealed shops, including mobile phone shops, general stores and big size godowns, he added. The crackdown launched on the Sui Gas Road, New Gala Mandi and Central Jail Road. The Excise Department had issued final notices to the defaulters to pay their tax but they did not bother and ignored final notices, he said.
