OKARA: Two people died in separate accidents here on Monday.Muhammad Bashir of 10/1L village was on his way on a tractor when his shawl entangled in the wheel of the vehicle and he fell on the road. As a result, he sustained injuries and rushed to a hospital where he died. In another incident, Naveed and Anwar of Dharmewala village were going to Depalpur on a motorcycle when a speeding tractor-trolley hit them. As a result, both were injured and rushed to a hospital where Naveed succumbed to his injuries. Police have started investigation.
‘NO SHORTAGE OF FLOUR’: Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Rauf Ahmad has said that there is no shortage of flour and it is easily available in markets in the district.
He was chairing a meeting held to view and discuss the flour situation in the district on Monday. The ADC said that the district administration was closely monitoring the whole situation. The price control magistrates had been directed to take legal action against the hoarders and black marketers, he added. District Food Controller Humayun Akhtar Gill told the meeting that the district dept needs 250,000 sacks of wheat till the coming of news crops. He told that currently, the department had a stock of 700,000 sacks of wheat in stores and the Okara district stood in position to supply wheat to other needy districts. He said that 9,975 bags of 20kg flour were being supplied to the city markets on daily basis.
WOMAN DRUG PUSHER HELD: Police on Monday arrested a woman drug pusher.The police raided and arrested Asia Bibi of Shergarh and recovered 1,360 grams charas from her possession. The police have registered a case.
ACCIDENT CLAIMS LIFE: A motorcyclist was killed in an accident on Shergarh Road ON Monday. Muhammad Awais of 2/1L village was on his way to Shaukatabad on his bike when a truck hit him, killing him on the spot.
