Woman among three killed in road tragedies

Two men and a woman died in road traffic accidents in various parts of the city on Monday. According to police, a man, identified as 36-year-old Naseem Ahmed, son of Murad Bukhsh, was killed in a road tragedy near Valika Chowrangi in the SITE area. He died on the spot. His body was rushed to the Civil Hospital Karachi for medico-legal formalities.

Police said the man was crossing the road when a vehicle hit and killed him. Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

In another accident, a 41-year-old man, Mansoor Nasir, son of Noor, died when a speedy vehicle hit him near the Punjab Chowrangi underpass within the limits of the Defence police station.

Police said his body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for an autopsy. Separately, a woman was injured near the National Highway within the limits of the Shah Latif police station. Responding to information, rescuers reached the scene and took the woman to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where she succumbed to her injuries during treatment.

The victim was identified as 35-year-old Jamila, wife of Qadir Bukhsh, a resident of the Quaidabad area. Police said the accident took place when the woman was crossing the road and a speedy vehicle hit her. Police have registered a case.

Woman shot by husband

A man allegedly shot and injured his wife in Shirin Jinnah Colony in the Clifton locality on Monday. According to police, the incident took place in Shirin Jinnah Colony within the jurisdiction of the Clifton police station from where a woman was brought to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medical treatment. The iwoman has been identified as 40-year-old Tamanna Bibi, wife of Hayat Khan.

The initial police investigation suggests that the woman’s husband shot and injured her over a family dispute and escaped. The police have registered a case against the suspect and initiated further investigations.

Man shot and injured

A 22-year-old man, identified as Faizan, son of Hussain, was wounded in a firing incident in Scheme 33 in Ayub Goth within the limits of the Sohrab Goth police station.

Police said that the incident took place when two men riding a motorcycle shot and injured him over offering resistance to a mugging bid. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Man found dead

Police found the body of a man near the Super Highway within the limits of SITE Superhighway police station. Responding to information, police reached the area and transported the body to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for an autopsy.

According to the initial investigation, police said that the body did not bear any mark of torture or bullet, while they were waiting for the postmortem report to ascertain the actual cause of death.
