PML-Q has no desire for CM post: Sarwar
LAHORE: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Mohammad Sarwar has said neither Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leadership expressed any desire for Punjab chief minister slot nor Chief Minister Usman Buzdar is being changed. Talking to the media after inaugurating a
data centre here on Monday, he said that all parties in the ruling alliance, PML-Q, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) and Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) were standing with the government on all issues. He said the government allies had given an assurance that they would not become part of any move aimed at toppling the government.
Ch Sarwar said Sardar Usman Buzdar had no threat from any side as long as he enjoyed complete support of the Punjab Assembly members and Prime Minister Imran Khan.
To a question, he said intra-party difference of opinion was beauty of democracy and the PTI believes in freedom of expression, which is essence of a democratic setup. He said all parliamentarians had the prerogative to put forth their demands/requirements since they were elected to the assemblies after they made promises with the people of their respective constituencies.
The governor said the PTI would ensure resolution of assembly members’ issues pertaining to the public.
To another question, he said the government would also resolve genuine issues of its ally parties through mutual talks and consensus, asserting that government’s reconciliatory team was in constant touch with the allies.
He said the opposition had been claiming about mid-term elections and an in-house change since formation of the PTI-led coalition governments in Centre and Punjab, but all its claims so far had proved false. He said the opposition would have to face sheer disappointment in future also, as the government would complete its five-year constitutional term. He said the ally parties also express displeasure and reservations even in Europe, but they believe in finding solution to their differences through mutual talks.
The governor said the government was providing maximum facilities to investors, and that was why foreign investors and overseas Pakistanis were investing in the country now.
About wheat flour crisis, Ch Sarwar said that as such there was no crisis in the country. He said the PTI government was committed to ensuring relief to the common man on priority basis. He promised that the PTI government would take effective measures for people’s welfare in a way that nobody could be able to object to its performance.
