Ontex to double production
KARACHI: Ontex has announced to invest 10 million euro in a couple of years to double its production capacity in Pakistan not only to serve the local market but to explore export opportunities in the region.
“The growth that Pakistan has delivered in recent years is a testament to the trust that consumers have placed in our brands. We have decided to invest substantially in new machinery this year, so as to double our production capacity in the country,” Pavel Verbludenko, Ontex Vice President for Middle East, Asia and Africa, said while launching new personal hygiene products in Pakistan.
“With these new launches, we are confident in the future of the Pakistan business. For now, local manufacturing serves the needs of the Pakistan market, but we intend to invest more in order to export to nearby markets.”
Ontex was the first multinational company in the diapers category to establish a local manufacturing facility in Pakistan at Karachi’s Port Qasim industrial area, and the company employs over 250 people across its integrated operations from manufacturing to sales.
“Pakistan offers a large and growing market of consumers who value convenience and quality at an affordable price for baby care and feminine care,” Ontex Director for South Asia, Ameen Jan, remarked. “We are confident that the introduction of Canbebe baby pants will meet the needs of those consumers who prefer the convenience of a pull-up diaper for their growing baby.”
