GUJRANWALA: Commissioner Zahid Akhtar Zaman has said that artificial shortage of flour will not be tolerated in Gujranwala division.
Addressing the video link conference here on Sunday, the commissioner supply of flour at fixed rate must be ensured by the deputy commissioners and field officers of the division. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar while taking notice of news regarding artificial shortage of flour had ordered a massive crackdown on such elements involved in hoarding of flour. He said that the Punjab government had set up toll free helpline number 080060606 for lodging complaints regarding unavailability of flour. The commissioner warned of strict action against the concerned officers for not giving top priority to the flour situation in their respective areas and urged the deputy commissioners to monitor the situation very closely and take immediate action where needed.
80 ILLEGAL SHOPS DEMOLISHED: The district administration has demolished 80 shops established illegally around the Haveli Ranjeet Singh, besides seizing all equipment of the encroachers.
The action was taken on the orders of DC Sohail Ashraf to vacate the place of historical building from the encroachers. The operation was conducted with the help of Municipal Corporation and police teams under the supervision of AC City Usman Sikandar and AC Sadar Sariya Haider. DC Sohail Ashraf said that all the historical buildings in the district would be renovated soon to promote the domestic and international tourism.
COMMITS SUICIDE: A woman committed suicide just after one day of her release from the police custody at Ladhewala Warraich on Sunday.
Reportedly, the Ladhewala Warraich police had arrested Saba for her alleged involvement in the theft of a LCD. Later, she was released. On the day of the incident, Saba, a mother of two children, jumped from the rooftop of her house and committed suicide.
