Steps being taken to improve power supply: Abid Sher From Our Correspondent GUJRANWALA: State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali has said that steps are being taken to improve flow of power supply. He said this after inaugurating a newly-constructed grid station having capacity of 132KV at Wapda Colony on Tuesday. The state minister said that besides laying a number of power transmission lines, several grid stations had been constructed to meet energy shortage. These steps would also resolve low voltage and other related problems, he added. He said that the government had increased its national power transmission capacity to 16,200MW and had a plan to take it upto 21,000MW by the end of next year. Apart from improving the transmission system, the PML-N government was also working on contingency measures to decrease loadshedding in the country, he informed. He told that the work on Neelum-Jhelum project was underway and it would be completed soon. As a result of newly-constructed projects by the government, power availability in the system had already showed a significant improvement and reiterated that loadshedding would end by 2017, he added. Abid Sher Ali criticised the PTI chief Imran Khan and said that Imran Khan and his aides did not want a prosperous Pakistan. He claimed that PTI chief Imran Khan was trying to stop foreign investment in Pakistan but he would face defeat in NA-122 by-elections. He said that Imran Khan had started levelling allegations of rigging to gain his hidden agenda but the PML-N candidate would win the by-polls in NA-122.
