BAHAWALPUR: SE Mepco Bahawalpur circle Attaullah Bhutta Tuesday said farmers from Bahawalpur and Lodhran districts owe Rs 1.5 billion to the Mepco.
Talking to The News, Bhutta said the farmers were reluctant to pay their current bills despite repeated requests. He said there were 11,000 agriculturist consumers in Mepco Bahawalpur Circle and majority of them were defaulters. He said power supply to big defaulters had been disconnected for the recovery of the outstanding bills. He claimed that only five hours loadshedding was being observed in 21 feeders of Bahawalpur city areas.
ENMITY CLAIMS LIFE: A man was shot dead over an old enmity on Tuesday.
Akram and his accomplices allegedly shot dead Faryad Hussain and injured his elder brother Abdul Qayyum at Chak 102, Fateh, in the limits of Chishtian Sadr police.
