MURREE: Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) Murree daily dumps tons of filthy waste/garbage in lush green forests of Kuldanna on main Kashmir-Islamabad road, which causing serious threat to environment and defacing the beauty of Murree hills.
Murree is supposed to be the pollution-free hill station with natural environment and beauty, but the arrangements to dump waste by the local municipal authority is surprising who have chosen the centre of the hill station for this purpose.
The unbearable malodorous atmosphere due to this garbage dumping even forces the motorists to close windows of their vehicles because of this stink and disgusting smell, which could be felt in the vehicles about one kilometre radius speaks the negligence of local administration to make Murree neat and clean for which a budget of Rs120 million has been allocated in current fiscal year.
The people of the area while talking about the stink said that walking from this area is almost impossible, which is also causing dangerous diseases in locals but no one is paying any heed to this situation. The other dangerous aspect of this waste dumping is that it resulted in accelerating the breeding of wild pigs in the area and one can see hundreds of pigs flocks in the forests and crossing the roads and also on by foot walking tracks of nearby villages in the vicinity.
Aurang Zeb Abbasi, a resident of the area and also a senior journalist told this scribe that not only the wild pigs but hundreds of stray dogs have also chosen to stay near this wastage dump of TMA which are a continuous threat to life of the locals and some incidents of injuring the locals have also occurred here. These wild pigs have ruined the crops in Murree and residents are showing their serious anguish over the governments deaf attitude and behaviour failing to redress this serious issue of the area, he added.
President Hotel association Murree, Haji Raja Khalil Abbasi, General Secretary Yasir Riasat Abbasi, President Murree Citizen Forum Hafiz Jawaid Abbasi, General Secretary Mazhar Abbasi, Raja Tufail Akhlaq Abbasi, President Murree Traders Union, Raja Akmal Nawaz, general secretary and office bearers of many other traders and social organisations have demanded of the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minster Shahbaz Sharif to save environment of the hell station by taking expeditious action in this regard.
