LAHORE: Crime reporters and representatives of various organisations held an emergency meeting here on Thursday with Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari in the chair, says a club press release.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss growing incidents of maltreatment of journalists at the hands of traffic wardens. The meeting unanimously decided that all the reporters would boycott coverage of government and police functions till the transfer of CTO Malik Liaquat. It resolved that all the crime reporters would avoid filing promotional news stories, especially of police. It also decided that if a crime reporter files any such news, necessary action will be taken against him on behalf of the Lahore Press Club.
The meeting was attended among others by LPC secretary Babar Dogar, LPC Governing Body member Hasnain Chaudhry, PFUJ Treasurer Zulfiqar Ali Mehtu, senior crime reporters Ahmad Faraz, Mujahid Sheikh, Dabeer Butt, Mian Abid, Babar Khan, Asif Chaudhry, Saqib Butt, Salman Qureshi, Sheraz Nisar, Nauman Sheikh, Hammad Sheikh and Ahmer Khokhar.
