Accused in former minister killing case granted bail

GUJRANWALA: An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Thursday granted interim bail to an accused involved in the murder of a former provincial minister. According to the FIR, some armed men shot dead ex-minister Rana Shamshad Ahmed Khan along with his son on May 31, 2015.

A case was registered against Rafique alias Fiqi and his accomplices. Later, Rafique fled the country and was declared a proclaimed offender (PO) by the court. Reportedly, Rafique returned a few days ago and applied for a bail in the court and ATC judge Syed Ali Imran granted him interim bail on two surety bonds till January 21, 2020.

SCUFFLE: Two groups of spectators scuffled with each other in a theater during the dance performance of actress Saima. Reportedly, two groups of spectators beat each other with sticks and chairs and also resorted to firing in the air during the dance performance of the actress. Police reached the spot while the accused fled the theatre.

SHIFTING OF CATTLE FROM URBAN AREAS: On the directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sohail Ashraf, the district administration has started shifting cattle from urban areas.

Earlier, the district administration issued a warning to cattle owners to shift their animals out of the city before January 15. The district administration also imposed section 144 for sale and transfer of fodder in the city area. After expiry of deadline, some ten teams under the supervision of AC City started action and arrested several people in this regard. The DC said there is a complete ban on keeping cattle in urban areas and cattle owners should shift their animals from the city areas otherwise strict action would be taken against them.
