ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court on Monday has adjourned the hearing of contempt of court case filed against the administration of Bahria Town till today due to the illness of counsel for Bahria Town Zahid Bukhari.
A three-member bench led by Chief Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and comprising Justice Doost Muhammad Khan and Justice Qazi Faez Isa heard the contempt of court case filed by Dr Shafiqur Rehman in connection with non-implementation of court’s earlier decision.
Khalida advocate told the court that counsel for Bahria Town Zahid Bukhari’s health suddenly deteriorated last night and he was admitted to hospital and therefore he could not appear in the court.
The court asked the petitioner to narrate his stand. Petitioner Dr Shafiqur Rehman told the court that he is a radiologist and he possessed 700 kanal land between GT Road and forests. He said that the administration of Bahria Town trapped him in a murder, kidnapping and a gun cases in order to occupy his land. But the court had declared him innocent.
Dr Rehman said that the Supreme Court on my petition took suo moto notice and issued orders which were not implemented. He said that his land was still under occupation of Bahria Town.
The court remarked that one or two member local commission would be formed in this regard.
The DCO Rawalpindi appealed to the court that representatives of Revenue Department and Forest Department should be included in this commission.
Later the court adjourned the hearing for today and declared that Khalida advocate would give arguments if Zahid Bukhari was unable to appear in the court.
