ANP issues schedule for ‘Bacha Khan Week’

PESHAWAR: The Awami National Party (ANP) has issued the schedule for observing the death anniversaries of freedom fighter Khan Abdul Ghaffar Khan aka Bacha Khan and Khan Abdul Wali Khan.

The main rally would be held at Amangarh in Nowshera on January 20 while another rally in Bannu would be organised on January 22, Hazara division on January 25 and Malakand division on January 26.

The ANP has declared the week as the “Bacha Khan Week.”

The party leaders would address these rallies.

The party provincial president would also attend programmes at the Bacha Khan Markaz during the week.

The students of the Bacha Khan Education Trust would participate in the programme at Bacha Khan Markaz on January 21 while a seminar on the alternative education system and Bacha Khan Education system would be held on January 23.

Another seminar on the importance of students’ union has also been scheduled for January 24 while a seminar on the women’s role in politics is being held on January 25. The concluding event would be held on January 27 at the Bacha Khan Markaz. Meanwhile, ANP provincial president Aimal Wali Khan said that Abdul Wali Khan was a leader of all the oppressed segments of the society. Through a statement on the 103rd birthday of Abdul Wali Khan, he said that the late ANP leader should be credited for his efforts for the restoration of democracy in the country.

He said that Abdul Wali Khan had showed it to the world through his politics of principles that one can earn respect without being elected to high offices.
