HARIPUR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Akbar Ayub Khan said on Sunday that the District Headquarters Hospital Haripur had been up-graded to category-A teaching hospital and its bedding strength was being increased to 500.
Addressing a public meeting in Sikandarpur here, he said that funds of Rs1 billion have been approved for District Headquarters Hospital Haripur which would be upgraded to teaching hospital. He said that the emergency and tertiary care treatment had always been one of the crucial issue in Haripur and the doctors had to refer the patients to other cities but he claimed with the upgradation of DHQ to category-A and teaching hospital, the problem of referring patient to other cities would come to an end once for all. He said that the under construction 100 bedded Women and Children Hospital would help improve medical facilities for the residents of Haripur.
Akbar Ayub Khan said that for addressing the problem of water contamination, different water supply schemes worth Rs 240 million were also under implementation. He added that Rs 1.3 billion have also been approved for the black-topping and widening of 17 km Beer to Kalinjar Road.
He expressed the hope that the project would help provide the people of remote areas better road communication facilities. About the LB elections, the provincial minister said the LB elections would be held across the province within the next few months. He urged the people to elect the honest and people-friendly representatives during the upcoming LB elections.
