Educators warn of protest against non-regularisation

FAISALABAD: The secondary school educators (SSEs) and assistant education officers (AEOs) of Faisalabad district have announced launching a protest drive against the Punjab government from January 15 for not regularising them.

In a statement here on Thursday, the Union of Educators office-bearers said that SSEs and AEOs were recruited on temporary basis after passing the NTS test in 2019, but their confirmation in the permanent cadre was now being denied by the education authorities.

They said that if their just demand was not fulfilled by the Education Department, they would be constrained to stage demonstrations against the government and if necessitated, the teachers would also stage a big demonstration in front of Civil Secretariat in Lahore.

SIX POS HELD: In a vigorous campaign launched by the Faisalabad police against the anti-social elements, police parties nabbed six proclaimed offenders wanted in a number of dacoity and murder cases, 24 narcotics paddlers and 12 people for keeping illicit arms.

Amir Waheed, a spokesman for the CPO, told The News that 24kg charas and 627 liter liquor was recovered from the arrested drug pushers during the last 48 hours while 12 pistols and two revolvers along with large quantity of cartridges were recovered from those possessing illicit arms. The spokesman said that the crackdown on the drug paddlers, proclaimed offenders and court deserters would continue under the directions of CPO Muhammad Sohail Chaudhry, who was determined to purge the society of these anti-social elements.
