KARACHI: Both the semifinals and final of the National Women Football Championship will be held here at the KU Stadium. The pre-finals will be conducted on Friday (today) while the final will be held on January 12. Punjab, Karachi United, Wapda and Army have qualified for the semifinals. Meanwhile allotting of these matches to Karachi United Stadium has raised many eyebrows. Meanwhile sources also complain that it was wrong strategy of the organisers to make KU play all their matches of the final round at their own venue. According to sources, who are part of the event, KU Stadium is small and for a nine-a-side football and not for a proper 11-a-side game. "Its goalpost is also not of the required standard," a team source alleged, while talking to this correspondent. "KU should also have been given matches at the KPT Stadium or KMC Stadium," a source of an influential team pointed out. This correspondent tried to get input from the chairman of Normalisation Committee of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Humza Khan but he neither attended the call nor responded to a whatsapp message from this correspondent.
