PHF prepares tentative domestic hockey calendar for 2020
KARACHI: Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has prepared a tentative domestic calendar for 2020, ‘The News’ learnt on Tuesday. Sources said the calendar includes Pakistan Hockey League (PHL), 11 all-Pakistan tournaments, three regional and one inter-school championship.
The first event of the year will be 6th women’s national junior championship, to be started from February. A five-a-side league will be held in Ramazan, national women championship in August and September, national junior championship in September, national senior championship in September, PHL in October, inter-club championships in June and July at district, regional, provincial and then national level, President Gold Cup in June to be organised by Sindh Hockey Association (SHA), Chief of Naval Staff Cup in June, and Chief of Army Staff Cup in November and December.
Events whose final dates are yet to be decided are Chief Minister Cup, Brig A Hamid Gold Cup, Governor’s Gold Cup in Karachi, Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup to be organised by Pakistan Customs, NBP Gold Cup, and Brig (rtd) MH Atif Memorial Tournament to be held by Punjab Hockey Association (PHA). Besides these, the federation will organise workshops for male and female umpires, and other technical officials.
