MULTAN: Mild rain coupled with a strong windstorm caused power outage in Multan and other districts on Monday. The rainwater inundated roads and caused troubles for the locals of low-lying areas. According to a spokesman for the Multan Electric Power Company (Mepco), the rain tripped at least 50 feeders in southern Punjab districts and disrupted power supply to several areas.

However, the Mepco staff was making efforts to restore the affected feeders gradually. According to the Met office, 5.1mm rain was recorded on Sunday and 3.8mm on Monday. The Met office has forecasted cloudy weather with chances of thunderstorm and rain until 5am for Tuesday (today). The Water and Sanitation Agency has recorded up to 9mm rain in different parts of Multan city. The rainwater disrupted traffic on Bosan Road, LMQ Road, Kalma Chowk, Nishtar Road, Gulgasht Colony, Pak Gate, Haram Gate, Bohar Gate and other areas of the city.
