Chock-a-block in Murree due to snowfall
Islamabad : The hill station of Murree witnessed an influx of holidaymakers from the adjoining Islamabad and Rawalpindi and other areas of the country on the weekend due to intermittent snowfall.
All the roads to and in Malika-i-Kohsar, the Queen of Hills, which is an hour's drive from Islamabad, were choked by massive vehicular traffic.
According to traffic police, around 50,000 vehicles entered Murree over the weekend.
The traffic police established a helpline for tourists and deployed cops at all intersections to facilitate motorists.
Wearing jackets, gloves and wool caps in the chilly weather, the tourists were seen roam around, shop, take pictures and selfies, and eat food, snacks and soup, and sip coffee and tea.
Some visitors complained about lack of accommodation in hotels on and off the Mall and insisted that hotels and restaurants overcharged them. Most tourists returned on Sunday, while the rest mostly from far-away plain areas opted to stay put to enjoy snowy weather.
