Rawalpindi : On the directions of Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Muhammad Mehmood, the Metropolitan Corporation has banned entry of public transports including Suzuki Wagons and Buses in Raja Bazaar for two days (Thursday and Saturday) during peak rush hours.
Initially, private transports will take turn from Gordon College only for two days (Thursday and Saturday) and will not be allowed to move towards Raja Bazaar.
The Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Muhammad Mehmood along with high ranking officials visited Raja Bazaar areas including Tehsil Office and directed establishment of a new look to Raja Bazaar. He insisted establishment of more parking zones and food street to increase the beauty of the business hub. The commissioner Rawalpindi Division also expressed strong resentment against ever-increasing encroachments in and around Raja Bazaar and ordered their removal on permanent basis.
Assistant Commissioner/ 1st Class Magistrate Muhammad Iqbal Sanghera told ‘The News’ that commissioner Rawalpindi Division after visiting Tehsil Office and Raja Bazaar ordered a ban on entry of all kinds of private transport in Raja Bazaar. “Initially, we have banned entry of private transports in Raja Bazaar only for two days (Thursday and Saturday) during peak rush hours,” he said.
He also said that commissioner Rawalpindi Division has directed them to establish parking zones nearby Tehsil office where more than 1000 private cars could be parked.
He said that we will provide transporters alternative places where they can park their vehicles. The private transporters will pick and drop the passengers at the pointed places, he said. He said that we will take help from Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to give a new look of congested Raja Bazaar.
On the other hand, private transporters have strongly protested against local management for banning transport entry in Raja Bazaar for two days (Thursday and Saturday). They have rejected decision regarding shifting of all Suzuki and wagons stands from Raja Bazaar.
On the other hand, the trader community of Raja Bazaar has strongly appreciated this decision of commissioner Rawalpindi Division. They said that the beauty of famous Raja Bazaar was withering continuously. The Metropolitan Corporation has completely failed to liberate Raja Bazaar from encroachment mafia, traders strongly denounced.
