Various army chiefs given extensions, says Khuhro

NAWABSHAH: The provincial advisor to CM Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said various army chiefs were given extensions in the past, especially granted by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, Pakistan People’s Party and others during their tenures.

Talking to the media on the convocation ceremony of Quaid-e-Awam University, Nisar Khuhro the political parties have their own opinions on the decision of extension of the services of army chief. As far as PPP was concerned, Nisar Khuhro said it did not have majority to change even a full stop or coma in the law.

When asked about soaring oil, gas and electricity prices, PPP leader said the question should be asked to someone also who was responsible of doing that. He described FBR was a failure and said to see the dollar rate from where it had gone up. Replying a question regarding the offer to MQM by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Khuhro said MQM had replied that they could not leave the current alliance with Imran Khan’s PTI.

While addressing the convocation, Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said four universities were established in district Shaheed Benazirabad during the tenures of former prime minister Benazir Bhutto and former president Asif Ali Zardari. He also assured that the efforts were made to provide financial assistance for these universities.

Nisar Khuhro reminded that in 1970, there was only one college in Sindh but pursuing the vision of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, he promoted the cause of education and today the girls were ahead of boys in education sector. He said Nawabshah has four universities including medical and veterinary universities while entire Sindh had 35 universities.

On the occasion, Nisar Khuhro presented 394 PhD, masters and bachelor degrees among the successful students. In the 10th Academic Convocation, some 275 boys and 119 girls were presented degrees and awards while seven PhD holders, 26 Masters and 322 Bachelor boys and girls were awarded degrees.
