LAHORE: A fire broke out in a NAB barrack in the Camp Jail Sunday. The cause of fire was said to be a short circuit outside the room of Fawad Hassan Fawad. The prisoners started running amok. Since there was no jail staff, Kh Saad Rafique started banging the bars. He sustained a minor head injury when his head struck against the bar. The jail doctor gave him first aid after which he was shifted back to the barracks once the jail administration extinguished the fire by switching off the main power supply.
Jang reporter adds: There are up to 30 inmates in the barrack. The short circuit is stated to have occurred due to overuse of electric heater due to intense cold weather.
According to the jailer, it was a small fire which was put off by the staff. Saad Rafiq was injured because he panicked, Jail Superintendent Asadullah Warraich added.
