KARACHI: Pakistan’s Hamza Khan moved into the final of the British Junior Squash Open at Birmingham, England, on Sunday.
In the semi-final of under-15 category, second seed Hamza easily defeated 5/8 seed Yassin Shohdy of Egypt 11-5, 11-8, 11-7. Yousuf Sheikh of England defeated M Ammad 11-9, 11-6, 11-7 in the other semi-final.
Earlier, M Ammad overpowered Jacob Lin of Canada 9-11, 11-5, 11-4, 12-10 and second seed Hamza Khan defeated Harith Danial of Malaysia 11-4, 11-3, 11-8 in the quarter-finals.
In the under-13 quarter-finals, Abdullah Nawaz was beaten by second seed Yousuf Salem of Egypt 8-11, 9-11, 6-11.
Abdullah will now face Hamdy Ehab of Egypt for 5th position.
In the quarter-finals of under-17 category, Noor Zaman won against Ameeshenraj Chandran of Malaysia 7-11, 11-4, 11-8, 11-7. Noor will be up against top seed Sam Todd of England in the semi-finals.
In the pre-quarter-finals of under-19 category, Haris Qasim lost to second seed Yahya Elnawasany of Egypt 8-11, 11-13, 6-11.
