Double standards
This refers to the letter ‘Terminal Failure’ (Jan 3, 2020) by Syed Ovais Akhtar. It is ironic that Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Miftah Ismail have been accused of illegality in the awarding of contracts for LNG import. On the other hand all those persons who had a hand in stopping Tethyan Copper Company from acquiring the mining lease for Reko Diq copper and gold mine, are free. Thanks to them Pakistan was fined $6 billion. I am sure this loss would be many times more than the losses that Abbasi and Ismail have been accused of.
It is indeed sad and unfortunate that those that those that stopped something good from happening are free. No wonder nothing gets done in this country. What signal is being sent to local and foreign investors?
