Like in the United Arab Emirates and other Middle Eastern countries, Pakistan can work at the grassroots to promote recreational and healthy activities by setting up modern parks and gym. Our young generation will have the opportunity to participate in 'health and fitness' activities. We need to develop and promote the health and fitness industry in this country by reducing taxes, raising awareness of the benefits of excercise among the public and allocating more land towards sports and other recreational facilities.
Currently, there is no government support for sports. The government should encourage private institutes/entities to help in this regard. The increasing rate of obesity, heart disease and mental health issues is a by-product of our neglecting the sports and recreation sector.
