Two more crossing points to promote trade with Afghanistan

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Finance Taimur Saleem Jhagra on Thursday said that after the successful 24/7 operationalisation of Torkham, the KP government in coordination with National Logistic Cell and other relevant federal departments would develop two new crossing points at Angoor Adda and Ghulam Khan to promote trade with Afghanistan.

The minister said this during a meeting with Director-General, NLC Major Gen. Asim Iqbal, who met him at NLC Headquarters in Islamabad, said a handout.

During the meeting, improvement of processes and further up-gradation of services at Torkham border and matters regarding the opening of two new points at Angoor Adda and Ghulam Khan were discussed in detail.

The DG, NLC, briefed the Finance Minister on the organization’s various functions, achievements and future targets. He said that NLC, among other services, provides safe and speedy transportation as well as engineering services during natural disasters. He said the NLC had undertaken 171 projects worth 164 billion rupees over the past four decades. The official said the organization had expertise in various areas including building mega structures, bridges, highways and land restoration. He stated that the NLC had completed five projects in Afghanistan.
