Zohaib clinches 35-plus singles tennis title
KARACHI: Zohaib Raza clinched the 35-plus singles title at the 34th Maple Leap Cement Pakistan ITF Seniors World Ranking Tennis Championship in Lahore on Wednesday.
Zohaib beat Usama Waheed 4-6, 3-6 in the final. The final of 70-plus singles will be played between Najam Naveed and Pervez Bajwa. In the semi-finals of 35 plus doubles, the pair of Adeel Ahmed and Mehboob Waheed defeated the duo of Amir Ijaz and M Yousuf 6-3, 6-3.
Talha Waheed and Usama Waheed thrashed Hussain Qureshi and Ahmed Waqas 6-1, 6-0. In 40-plus doubles semi-finals, M Shakeel and Talha Waheed smashed Faaiz Hasan and Hasan Said 6-0, 6-2. Ashar Ali and Fayaz Khan thrashed Hussain Qureshi and Ahmed Waqas 6-0, 6-0.
In 45-plus doubles semi-finals, Fayaz Khan and Rashid Malik defeated Faaiz Hasan and M Waheed 6-3, 6-2. Ashar Ali and M Shakeel beat Nadeem Abbas and Hasan Said 6-1, 6-2. In 65-plus doubles semi-finals, Zahid Rai and Iftikhar Rao defeated M Saeed and Naveed Najam 6-1, 6-1. Khurrum Khwaja and Asad Niaz got walkover.
