Elder killed in Bajaur IED blast

KHAR: A tribal elder was killed in an improvised explosive device (IED) blast in Bar Chamarkand tehsil in Bajaur Agency, official sources said on Thursday.
The sources said that militants had planted the explosive device at the roadside in Bar Chamarkand and triggered the explosion with a remote controlled when a tribal elder Malik Rahim Gul was passing through the area.
The sources said that the elder was killed on the spot. The security forces launched a search operation after the incident. Officials of the political administration visited the residence of the tribal elder and offered condolences to the relatives of the slain tribal elder.
The IED attacks targeting prominent tribal elders have increased in Bajaur tribal region.
Two prominent elders including Malik Dawa Khan were killed in similar attack in Uthmankhel tehsil in Bajaur this week.
