This letter refers to the article, ‘The good, the bad and the worrisome’ (Dec 20) by Dr Abid Qaiyum Suleri, a thorough article about the state of our economy. The writer has discussed in detail the state of our present economy and rightly points out that our economy is neither too bad as propagated by the opposition nor too good as projected by the government. The writer points out some negative impact on revenue, due to reduced imports, with some positive effect on foreign exchange savings.

I would advise the writer to write an article on our economy which should be based on simple economic factors which affect the budget of the common man. In order to educate laymen like us, this article should explain why the prices of everyday items have skyrocketed in the last two years or so.
