GUJRANWALA: Counter Terrorism Department team in a raid have arrested five alleged terrorists and recovered explosive material and other equipments from their possession.
All the arrested terrorists were linked to banned outfit “Al Qaeda” and were involved in funding the network of terrorist organisation and also running its media cell. It was learnt that this terror financing network was recently shifted from Karachi to Gujranwala and financial assistance was being provided from Gujranwala to Afghanistan for terrorism activities.
They were also planning to launch attacks on LEAs personnel in Gujranwala. After receiving information about the network, CTD team conducted raid on a house and arrested five alleged terrorists including Asim Akbar, Abdullah Umair, Ahmed, Muhammad Yousaf and Muhammad Yaqoob while raiding party also recovered explosive material including suicide jackets, laptop, printing machine, computers, hate literature, computers with encrypted data, mobile phones, five Kalashnikovs, two pistols and ammunition. In this connection a case was registered and the terrorists were shifted to an unknown place.
