On December 25, the nation celebrated the 144th birth anniversary of our founding father, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. There is no denying that Allama Muhammad Iqbal’s dream of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent saw the light of day mainly owing to the Quaid’s steely resolve and unswerving commitment to his purpose. After many ups and downs, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah succeeded in his mission and made it clear to the world that nothing is impossible if we remain true and sincere to our long-cherished goals. It is pertinent to point out that he dreamt of an egalitarian society where everyone would be free to practise his/her faith without any external pressure.
As ill luck would have it, Jinnah could not find enough time to run the country as per his own aspirations. His untimely departure took a heavy toll on us, and we became a rudderless nation. His plan to put the country on the right track remained unfulfilled. Merely observing his birthday will not suffice until we follow the rules which he left for the nation in true letter and spirit. We will have to come to terms with the truth that the nations which forget the golden principles of their benefactors always fall short of achieving their destinations. We need to internalize the immaculate ideals given by our great founder so that we may live in this world with our heads held high.
