MULTAN: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said on Monday premier Narendra Modi was facing serious internal issues and he was planning an attack at the Line of Control (LoC) to divert Indian people’s attention from the anti-Muslim citizenship law.

Qureshi said Pakistan intelligence reports had confirmed the new developments along the LoC, unusual Indian army movements, installation of Indian Brahmos and Spike Anti-Tank missiles. India had increased violations at the LoC after a statement of Indian army chief, he added.

India violated the LoC for more than 3,000 times since January this year and Indian forces targeted dozens of innocent people at the LoC during this period. “I have written a letter to the president of United Nations’ Security Council and informed him about these threats being posed by India.”

No sane leader in India supported revoking of special status of Jammu and Kashmir on Aug 5, and the step had exposed fake secularism and democracy in that country, he added.

Talking to The News by phone from Karachi, he said that India was facing serious security challenges due to Modi government’s extremist agenda. He said the Indian national not only in their own country but also across the world were staging demonstrations and rallies against the most controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Act, 2019. The protestors were not only Muslim but common people who were opposing the anti-Muslim bill, he added. “They are very much clear that the Modi government has buried the ideology of secular India and imposed the ideology of Hindu Rashtriya and Hindutva,” Qureshi added.

The foreign minister said India had increased ceasefire violations lately, adding, “India is cutting border fence at different points of the LoC, enhancing movement of Indian army across the LoC and inside Kashmir, which was posing a serious threat to peace between the neighbouring countries.

Qureshi said India restricted communication freedom in Jammu and Kashmir, but the protest demonstration had broken out across India, which could not be concealed from the international press.

The foreign minister said the world community must intervene and play its role for peace between the two atomic powers. He said if India initiated war with Pakistan, it would not be limited to Pakistan but spread to the entire region.

Qureshi thanked the countries which supported Pakistan’s stance on Kashmir. He specially appreciated Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian leadership on taking a clear stance on Kashmir. He thanked the OIC leadership for supporting Pakistan’s Kashmir policy and the OIC Human Rights Commission for taking notice of use of pallet guns in Jammu and Kashmir.
