LAHORE:Federal Board of Revenue Chairman Shabbar Zaidi has assured the publishers and printers of Holy Quran that he would extend maximum possible cooperation for facilitating the import of best quality paper on cheap rates and solve the problems faced by them.
He was talking to a delegation led by chairman Quran Board Punjab, Ghulam Muhammad Sialvi and comprising office-bearers of publishers association. The publishers expressed gratitude for Prime Minister Imran Khan and FBR chairman for abolishing customs duty on sales tax on offset paper, but demanded that 17 percent sales tax and three percent additional sales tax imposed on art paper and matt paper should also be abolished in order to ensure quality standards of printing of Holy Quran.
They said Holy Quran is the book read by largest number of the people in the world with the maximum frequency, and high quality paper in its printing would reduce the rate of the wearing out and wastage.
The delegation comprised of Quran Board members Nazimuddin, Dr Muhammad Hussain Akbar, Qari Ahmad Mian Thanvi, Dr Abdul Ghafoor Rashed, Mufti Intikhab Noori, Aslam Kasuri, Malik Qudratullah, Ziauddin, Naeemuddin Zeeshan, Ahsan Mehmood Zia, Hafeezul Barkat and Umar Daraz. Former chairman FBR Tariq Mehmood Pasha was also present on the occasion.
