KARACHI: Pakistan’s Israr Ahmed moved into the quarter-finals of the 22nd Asian Junior Squash Individual Championships in Iran on Monday evening.
Second seed Israr defeated eleventh seeded A Hashim Abdullah of Iraq 11-3, 11-7, 11-5 in just 25 minutes in the first round to set up a clash with sixth seeded S Ramachandran of India.
Third seed Asim Khan had to withdraw from the event as he was diagnosed with hepatitis-B in his medical examination taken for this championship.
Israr is now the only player from Pakistan running for the title.
After playing this event, Israr will participate in the Commonwealth Youth Games on the Pacific island nation of Samoa from September 5-11.
